ABOUT THE WALK

What time does the 2009 Walk MS start?
Walker check-in and registration begins at 9:00 AM. We'll start walking at 10:00 AM. At Walk MS: Louisville, registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Where does my money go?
Seventy-eight percent of the money raised at the Walk MS funds local programs and services for the more than 4,600 people affected by MS in Kentucky and southern Indiana and national research efforts to find a cause and cure for MS.

How much money should I raise?
The Walk MS is one of the Society's largest annual fundraisers. Last year Walkers raised on average $177! You will be amazed at how easy it is to ask your friends, family and co-workers to support you once you tell them about our mission.

When and where do I turn in my pledges?
There are three easy ways to turn in your pledges:

  1. Fundraise online!  Pledging online is a quick, easy, no-hassle way for you to collect funds from friends, family and co-workers in your community and around the world.
  2. Turn in your donations the day of the event. If you will be giving your money to your team captain, be sure to give them all of your information so that it can be applied properly.
  3. Mail or drop off your donations at the National MS Society Chapter office:
    Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Chapter
    11700 Commonwealth Drive, Suite 500
    Louisville, KY 40299

Be sure to put your full name in the memo portion of each check!

What if I need more pledge sheets or brochures?
Download the pledge sheet from the fundraising page. Or email us at walkMSky@kyw.nmss.org to have a copy of the pledge sheet or additional brochures mailed to you. You can also call us at 1-800 FIGHT MS option 2 to request additional materials.

What is a team?
A team is a group of four or more family members, friends or co-workers who wish to walk together to fight MS. Visit TeamMS to find out more.

I want to bring my kids with me.  Do they need to register?
Yes, all individuals participating in the Walk MS, regardless of their age, must register. All individuals under the age of 18 must have adult supervision at the Walk MS. Many of the Society's top fundraisers are children and young adults.

What if I can't finish the Walk MS?
No problem!  Each Walk MS site will have accessible support vehicles patrolling the routes. If necessary, a support vehicle can pick you up and take you to the finish line.

What if it rains?
The Walk MS takes place rain or shine. You'll have a great time for a great cause whether it's sunny, cloudy or rainy!

Can I bring my dog?
You are welcome to bring your dog to the Walk MS, but your dog MUST be on a leash. Also, please be sure to pick up after your pet.

When do I receive my prizes?
Walk MS participants who raise $100 or more will receive an official Walk MS t-shirt the day of the event. A prize redemption certificate with instructions will be mailed following the pledge deadline, which is one month after the Walk MS.

Can I donate my prize back to the National MS Society?
